Safety Manager

• This position works proactively with managers to establish and maintain safe working culture and a safe work environment
• Support managers to maintain safe work practices and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support as needed
• Effectively communicate health and safety program requirements and initiatives to employees
• Work with key personnel to ensure that controls and procedures are maintained
• Provide support for incident and near-miss investigations
• Manage the input of data into the registries (ISNetworld, Comply Works & Enform etc.)
• Manage the tracking of safety tickets and company orientation requirement system(s)
• Conduct and/or coordinate annual Certificate of Recognition audit and identify opportunities for improvement
• Execute plans to drive HSE best practices and encourage managers and employees to adhere to company HSE guidelines and policies
• Update safe work procedures
• Develop and monitor HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HSE government regulations and Client standards
• Manage GPS, Hours of Service and Company fleet requirements
• Provide new employee safety orientations
• Managing the workers’ compensation (WCB) claims process by liaising with WCB and ensuring timely reporting of workplace injuries or illnesses
• Assisting with the return-to-work process and overseeing modified work programs
• Ensure all HSE team members understand their roles and responsibilities.

• Demonstrated knowledge of environment, health and safety legislation, HSE Registry experience, National Safety Code requirements, as well as best industry practices
• Exceptional communication skills and proficient use of various office software programs will help ensure success in this role
• Current drivers’ license required (will be required to provide a current driver abstract)
• High level of personal accountability, honesty and integrity.
